About Us

OSTİM Technical University Language Teaching Application and Research Center was established in 2020 , has started the education in the same year. Our center provides language education on two different programs as Turkish preparatory education along with languages like English, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Spanish and German. 

 

Mission:

 

The OSTİM Technical University Language Teaching Application and Research Center aims to teach foreign languages, including Turkish as well as English, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, German, and Spanish, based on contemporary teaching methods and techniques. Organizing courses in foreign languages and conducting joint studies with national and international institutions focused on foreign language education are among the center's primary objectives.


Vision:

 

The vision of the OSTİM Technical University Language Teaching Application and Research Center is to be a distinguished and pioneering center that contributes to students' language learning process by using contemporary methods and techniques in language teaching, enhances their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills, and increases their cultural awareness.

  • Adopt an action-oriented approach in language teaching to increase students' and trainees' cultural awareness.​
  • Collaborate with national and international institutions through agreements to conduct joint education, research, application, and publication activities in teaching Turkish and other languages.
  • Conduct research and applications on language teaching methods and develop materials.
  • Organize language exams and proficiency tests domestically and internationally.  
  • Offer socially and culturally supported courses to develop language skills, particularly in Turkish.

 

Teaching Principles and Methods ​

The OSTİM Technical University Language Teaching Application and Research Center operates in two main programs: Teaching Turkish as a foreign language and offering courses in other foreign languages.

The principles and methods of language teaching at the center are outlined below:

Action-Oriented Approach: Language teaching at the center is based on an action-oriented approach, with programs designed to support and enhance reading, listening, writing, speaking, and grammar skills.​

Assessment Based on CEFR Standards: The development of students and trainees is evaluated according to the criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Progressive Course Materials: Materials used in the programs follow a progression from simple to complex, general to specific, and concrete to abstract. Themes are linked to sociocultural life to enhance relevance.

Regular Evaluation: Students and trainees are subject to regular monthly exams, and class levels are determined based on the results.

Technological Integration: Classes are conducted in technologically equipped environments with enriched learning materials.
